How does this internet speed test work?
Press Start and your browser sends and receives test data through the nearest Cloudflare server, measuring ping, download speed and upload speed. It takes about 10 seconds and works on Wi-Fi, broadband and mobile data — no app needed.
What is a good internet speed?
10 Mbps handles browsing and HD video on one device. 50 Mbps or more suits 4K streaming and several devices, and 200 Mbps or more covers a busy household. For gaming and video calls, a ping under 50 ms matters more than raw speed.
What is the difference between Mbps and MB/s?
Internet plans are sold in megabits per second (Mbps), while downloads show megabytes per second (MB/s). Divide by 8: a 100 Mbps plan downloads at about 12.5 MB/s.
Why is my speed test result lower than my plan?
Distance from the router, walls, other devices using the connection, VPNs and busy evening hours all lower results. For the most accurate speed test, use a cable or sit close to the router and pause other downloads. If speeds stay low, check whether your provider has an outage.
